Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) - posted 11/02/2020
Higher Level Teaching Assistant - Closing Date 26th February 2020
Birch Hill Primary School is looking for an enthusiastic, motivated and committed Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join our friendly hard working team of HLTAs. Our HLTAs work with teachers and senior leaders to organise and support teaching and learning activities for classes. The primary focus is to do specified work with individuals, groups and whole classes under the direction and supervision of a qualified teacher.
The role will be varied and interesting, with no two days the same. The HLTA will work with whole classes, covering planning time and short term teacher absence, and groups of children as well as working with individual children. This is an ideal role for someone thinking about going into teaching and could be a stepping stone into teacher training for the right candidate.
The school is a two form entry primary with a Nursery. In addition we have a KS2 Inclusion class (8 places MLD/ASD), which is linked to the local Special School – Kennel Lane. The school is well resourced and has extensive outside space and a Nurture provision. There are currently 400 children on roll.
Birch Hill Primary has just been judged Good in our Ofsted report (October 2019).
Our report acknowledges:
· Teachers make lessons interesting, pupils learn quickly and have a wide range of opportunities.
· Pupils say they have lots of friends and they feel safe.
· The school is at the centre of the community.
· Leaders and governors are ambitious for the pupils to succeed
The successful candidate will have experience of covering whole classes within the primary age range and be a positive and proactive member of the team. They will be cheerful and positive with a can-do attitude.
The school is located in the Birch Hill estate which is on the outskirts of Bracknell town and is within very easy access of many amenities. The 'Look Out’ environmental area, Bracknell Sports Centre and Swimming Pool, the Berkshire Racquets and Health Club, the South Hill Park Theatre & Arts Centre are all well within walking distance with skating, skiing, bowling, cinemas and a leisure pool nearby.
We can offer you:
- An inclusive ethos
- Happy, motivated children who enjoy coming to school
- A caring, committed team of staff
- A commitment to professional development for all staff
- Supportive teams who work well together
