Year 5 Bake Off Competition

On Monday, a wonderful team of Year 5s had the opportunity to attend a baking competition at the prestigious Ascot Racecourse!

The children worked really hard to plan and design traybake cakes that were centred around this year’s competition theme of “Royal Ascot” . Amelia, Victor and Sareena baked a delicious vanilla sponge that was decorated with honey, buttercream and even handmade fondant ‘Ascot’ hats.  The team should be really proud of their baking and one of the Ascot chef judges even complimented how “very light” the cakes were.

The children also had the chance to explore the Ascot grounds on a guided tour at the end of the day.  This included special access to the kitchens to see where all the Ascot food is made and prepared! It really was a fantastic day.

A huge thank you to Kelly in the kitchen for supporting the whole of Year 5 throughout the competition process and a special thanks for helping the team of three bake such brilliant cakes.
