Emergency Closure Information

Closing the school is not a decision that is taken lightly because of the inconvenience it causes and the resultant break in the childrens' education. However, there may be times when there really is no alternative. We will always to to give as much notice as possible, but sometimes rapidly changing weather conditions may make this difficult. The aim will always be to avoid unnecessary closure.

ProceduresBack to top

Closing the school is not a decision that is taken lightly, and usually is caused by snow. Thankfully, this doesn't happen very often, but if it is necessary then there are several places to get information.
The school website will have a banner across the top of the home page with emergency information.
The Parent Hotline will also have information recorded on it. The number for this is: 08447 70 75 76. The school’s ID number is 65086.
The school sends information into local radio stations for broadcast and websites and to Bracknell Forest for their website.
When possible, the school answerphone message will be updated.

Why Close The School?Back to top

The decision to close the school is not taken lightly, because of the inconvenience it causes and the resultant break in the children's education. However, there may be times when there really is no alternative.

If it has snowed before the start of the school day, road conditions may stop enough staff getting in to school. This decision would be taken very reluctantly, and a delayed start might be implemented to allow the school to open.

If the school is open, but severe weather comes in, the decision to close the school early might be taken. Again, this would be made with great reluctance, but the deciding factor would be the safety of children, parents and staff for the homeward journey, taking into account the condition of the roads around the school and further afield.
